Adventures in Baking

So, the college football national championship was LAST week, and yes, we've been doing stuff THIS week, but none of it got photographed. This lovely attempt at a king cake did win a moment of the spotlight though...even though it looks more like those little pillows they give hemorroid patients than an actual king cake. You're welcome for that mental image. =)
This was attempt 3...the first two didn't even rise, or rise evenly. So...I'll try again around the time of Mardi Gras and maybe we'll get something more cake-like and less medical-equipment like. =) ''
Haha, you're welcome again.

So do you actually bake in a plastic baby when you make these? I didn't know how that worked if you made them homemade.

I didn't know anything about king cake until college. One of my roommates was from right outside NO, and her mom would always ship us one. YUM.

Sorry I read the hemmorroids first and then looked at the cake and then finished reading the sentence about a pillow. I have to go lie down now.
