Hippie Detergent Verdict

Because I know you care! =)

It works great. Thanks to using vinegar as a fabric softener...I know, believe me, I know...we've avoided basically all the chemicals in our laundry process.

The detergent smells like industrial floor cleaner. It's atrocious. I guess for people who like the smell of Pine-Sol it wouldn't be so repugnant, but for those of us who prefer less astringent scents, it's pretty bad! Fortunately the smell doesn't linger in our clothing - there's actually no leftover smell at all, which is something I need to remedy. I like new laundry to smell NICE, not simply "un-funky."

The girls love to help scoop it out and get delightedly grossed out because it's so gloppy. Not slimy so much as a thick gel...really not something I'd recommend for a pregnant lady in her first trimester.

So that's that. I won't bore you with many further details, but at the end of the day, my laundry is costing me a little less than a cent per load. ONE CENT. My Tide costs 20 cents a load at regular price. So...you know...I can hold my nose. =)

Yes but do you find it actually CLEANS your clothes? I mean something really dirty like Bree's clothes - I imagine :o) And does the vinegar really soften?
