Activities!!!

My pretty girl! She was so excited about dance class and I was happy to get to take her w/o Bree for the first class. Since Paul was home, Bree didn't have to be corralled in the tiny little waiting room - thank goodness! ALSO - again with the terrible picture quality....yadda yadda yadda, we've talked about this before.
This is Carly's teacher! I was SO EXCITED to overhear this class. As some of you may remember, Carly's dance school last year was more dance competition-style dancing and not really technical or specific. It wasn't Paul or my favorite. This is Miss Kristy (sp) telling the girls that tendu means to STRETCH, not to FLOP their little feet. It should be noted here that the girls from last year's class answered correctly when Miss Kristy asked what tendu meant at the beginning of the class. Also, pique, plie, grand battment, pas de chat....I'm a huge nerd so you KNOW I was loving all of that. Carly didn't know WHAT to think at first! But Miss Kristy is patient and took the time to show Carly exactly what she expected then when Carly got it right, Miss Kristy high-fived her. My girl understands THAT, you can bet! The high-five is our main form of affirmation in this house. =)
The studio is new - it's an extension of the Swansboro Dance Studio, so we're still waiting on mirrors and barres. The girls did good floor work, though! By the end of the class, Miss Kristy had helped Carly settle down her scarecrow fingers. =)
Grande Battements! This was the first time Carly had been taught them - last year it was "big kicks." She was concentrating so hard!
If you've been to our house you recognize this intersection...I don't think any of the three people who read this have been here though...anyway, our neighborhood is right behind that white building (it's a hardware store). It's maybe five or six blocks back, an easy walk and usually pleasant when it's not rainforest hot and humid. =)
Worth turning your computer sideways - you probably saw this on facebook...but hilarious.
This morning it was Bree's turn for dance class!!! She was physically unable to stand still for a photo, so she just broke it down for a while before class. My girl - love her.
Bree met a sweet friend!
The teacher's assistant had all the little girls sit in a circle like butterflies and then she asked them what color the butterfly is...for the ones that understood, their answers were awesome. The first girl said "glitter" and there was a "stripes," an "ice cream" and Bree said "rainbow." So funny!
They lined up to do the limbo - and right after I snapped this photo, they turned on the music and Bree found it impossible to stand still. All the other girls joined in and Miss Kristy, even though she is a total badass about rules in class, had a really hard time getting them back in line. Understandable, though! That song is awesome!
We ran to the store then home for lunch and at 1pm (why in the world?!) we had soccer. Bree was exhausted, but we're going to keep trying and maybe she'll get it. She was the youngest in the class by about a year, but the coaches were really sweet and patient. We'll see! She is stinking cute though, right?!
