The Krewe of Barkus

We finally met some neighbors! They were coming back from the Krewe of Barkus - the only parade where dogs are allowed within fifty feet of the parade route. The parade started at 2 and by the time we got downtown, we figured it would be all over and we'd just walk around and see stuff. But YAY it was still going on!!! Carly was very, very excited!
Woohoo! One of the fun things they do is try to throw beads BACK onto the parade - like this one coming up with the alligator on front - there were beads hanging from all of its teeth!
They were giving out the good beads at this parade! Big and shiny...but the real beads HURT when they come flying through the air at your face. Good thing Carly has a professional bead-catcher!
The beads go all the way down to her ankles! So cute!

This headband was supercute for about ten seconds! =)
We decided to take a little walk a couple blocks down in the French Quarter...that balcony guy is so not real! But the real half-naked guy a couple hundred yards down the road wearing nothing but yellow leather pants and a feather boa was TOTALLY real! That's about when we turned around and headed for the car.
It's a cool photo in theory. =)
On the way out - this was after we passed half-naked guy and three or four strip bars and a bunch of drunk loud people...we figure Bourbon street around dusk isn't really for us, no matter how safe our new neighbors swear it is. In the car on the way home: "Get oudda buy FACE, sud-shide!"
