Meltdown in Aisle 4

I don't know if there are supposed to be pictures...I'm sorry if I'm doing it all wrong. =)

In order for you to understand this story, there are a couple of things we should talk about first.

1) Bree loves her books. Her current favorite is Goodnight Gorilla. If you've never read it, the only words are when different characters are saying goodnight and the naughty gorilla lets all the animals out of the zoo where they all snuggle up in the zookeepers bedroom. The zookeeper says goodnight to his wife and all the animals answer. The next page is all black with only to BIG white eyeballs when the wife wakes up. I always say "OH MY GOSH!" at that point. Well...Bree has taken to getting that book and flipping through the pages to that one, then saying "Oh GASH! Oh GASH!" about a hundred times in a row. It's hilarious at home, slightly less so seven hours into an interminable car trip. =)

2) We were way too busy having an awesome weekend to do anything like grocery shopping, so we went to Whole Foods this morning after dropping Carly off at school. I just so happened to pick up a bottle of chocolate sauce thinking it would be a nice surprise for Carly if it didn't have too many grams of sugar per serving and I gasped when I saw that there was (it breaks my heart to even type it) HFCS as the first ingredient. Can you EVEN believe that?! At Whole Foods! I was horrified to say the least. It was truly a terrible moment for me. I felt like...I don't even know. It's too traumatic to speak of.

Okay so the funny part of this story comes now. My 20-month old Bree heard me gasp then grabbed the chocolate syrup out of my hand, held it upside down and leaned really close then she gasped and said, "Whaaaa-AT?! Oh GASH!" In between laughing, I told her it has fake food and she made the yucky face and goes "Fay foo...GUCK." That got a great reaction from the guys stocking frozen veggies, so being the little leo she is, she kept saying "Fay foo! GUCK!" over and over until by the time we were leaving, she had condensed it to just the one Mother of All Cursewords sort of drawn out into three syllables like Southern people will draw out y'all...and she was happily shouting it at everyone she saw on the way out. Fun times. =)
