Saturday after t-ball the girls and I took my (great) Uncle Lynn down to New Orleans to see the Insectarium for his birthday! We had a great time and managed to score free parking two blocks away...which was a pretty incredible feat considering the French Quarter Festival was going on. These pictures are totally random. =) Anyway, here's Carly petting some roaches. When I get the pics from the Ronald McDonald House (hint hint hint) I'll post them and we can talk about how I had to run from the dining room due to a Cadillac-sized monster crawling on the ceiling...
I don't remember whether I noticed this or not the last time we were here...the entymologists designed these boards to display insects from different regions using local iconic images...the Asian bugs are like a dragon (shown), bugs from Africa are in the shapes of ceremonial masks and shields, etc. It's really cool.
While Carly and Uncle Lynn saw the bug movie in 4D (with scents and these things in the seats that make you jump), Bree and I explored the insect hall of fame. My little monkey wanted to see from the top...so she just climbed up there to do it.
Uncle Lynn treated us to lunch at Mother's where Bree absolutely demolished her beans and rice, the bread and half the meat off of my Ferdi po-boy (ham, sliced roast beef and chopped roast beef...yummmm) and half of Carly's brownie.
