If I had my camera...I swear to you half of my sentences start with that phrase these days. We're going to have to fix this little problem. Nevermind that Paul's trusty truck won't start without a jump. Photographic evidence of our daily lives is so much more important than (his) reliable transportation. Right?
Anyway...if I had my camera...you should have seen Paul's SWEET outfit for tailgating today! Due to rain and the craziness of the crowds, the girls and I chose to stay home instead of going out to the game, so when I saw Paul, it was when we were picking him up at about 8pm and he was covered in mud from attacking (and destroying) a Tim Tebow inflatable some Florida fan had brought. Anyway, he was wearing his favorite multicolored madras patchwork shorts, a purple t-shirt and a lemon yellow woman's linen blazer he got at Goodwill, which came complete with three-quarter sleeves (at least on Paul) and giant shoulder pads. It was pretty awesome, especially splattered in mud and ketchup. He also smelled fabulous - exactly like he's been living inside a dead elephant for a week. We had to drive with the windows open.
Carly was pretty sad that we missed seeing Uncle Pete and Auntie Amanda while they were at the tailgate party, but she was so excited about seeing her dad tonight she just about forgot about her earlier disappointment. Paul had been out of town at the beginning of the week and since he took a couple of days off of work at the end of the week to prepare for this visit/tailgating extravaganza, he's been busy running around taking care of that stuff. We're all looking forward to tomorrow when we can just hang out together.
We have a temporary guest who was NOT invited, however. It's a mouse!!! I'm so freaked out by it - poor Bree has not been allowed to crawl around pulling stuff out of cabinets. I discovered our little visitor when I was up way too late reading the second Twilight book and the beast went running across the floor. Of course I screamed and jumped up on the bed and started hopping around...I always have such helpful reactions, I really do....and now I'm looking all over for those new mouse traps that you don't have to see/touch the creature. No one seems to have them, so I'm going to have Paul set out the sticky kind tomorrow night. For obvious reasons (he didn't sleep last night and is currently snoring on the couch) tonight was not ideal. I just heard, or imagined I heard, a squeak and now I'm trying to figure out how I can get from the desk to my bed without touching the floor.
