..with her fairy wands. She has about a million and she keeps walking around shaking them at her sister.
I asked her what she was doing and she said "I'm trying to MAGIC her! But these WANDS don't WORK!" She's shaking it really fast at this point and then she tells me that she wants the REAL kind that makes the noise. I made that br-r-r-ring! magic fairy wand noise and she said that was sort of right, but not really. And then, with all of the disgust she can get into her facial expression and voice she pointed the wand at me and said, "THESE are toy wands. I need a REAL one."
So we talked about it some more. After seeing Harry Potter and Nanny McPhee (she has a magic walking stick), Carly has decided that REAL wands are not silver and sparkly, they are sticks. But she doesn't want a magic stick, she wants a magic WAND. It's a very difficult situation - to know exactly what you're going for and just not being able to find it. We decided that we are going to have a talk with the Tooth Fairy when Carly loses her first tooth.
Okay, wait, but there's more. We talked about what fairies wear, with tutus and wings and pretty shoes and Carly remembered seeing our Mardi Gras 2008 photos the other day....the ones with the grown men in...tutus...and wings...and pretty shoes. Carly told me she's "not going to wait around" (no really, she did) for the Tooth Fairy. She's going to talk to one of THOSE fairies and get them to tell her where the real magic wands are.
Yikes.
And basically that's how me taking Carly to the movies ended up meaning that we never go to Mardi Gras parades again ever.
