Frogs and Books

After a (very) early morning grocery store trip, the girls and I decided to do some yardwork. It was SO hot, but at least there was a breeze! I put out the sprinkler for Carly and Bree wanted to go explore it. She didn't get too close though!

Then we found a frog!
Then BREE found the frog and tried to pick it up.

It jumped on her hand, which kind of scared her, so she jumped up on my lap and started making funny faces.

Poor little baby was so hot and sweaty! She was such a good girl and sat in the shade of the porch playing for a long time while I worked and Carly jumped around in the sprinkler. She could see both of us out of either side of the porch and she'd go back and forth laughing at us for being in the hot sun.

Then we decided that our dirty, dirty car needed a bath. Here is Carly giving Kirby the lowdown of what to expect. (PS: here's our new car!)

This is a corner near our house. Six weeks ago it was all trees like the ones at the back of the dirt...and it's going to turn into a Wal-Mart. I'm not at all excited about this...and they're working pretty much ALL the time, so we'll see how fast it goes up.

After naps we were thinking of something to do and Carly chose the library. Here she is reading a book about tarantulas....which provoked a reaction from this mom in the library that we keep seeing over and over. This lady asked me if Carly had an older brother. Of course she doesn't, and then the lady was like, "But a GIRL? Reading a book about SPIDERS?" Luckily Carly didn't hear her...but can you believe it? I just wanted to shake that lady. When did it get weird for little kids to be curious about everything?

Bree enjoyed digging through my bag...do you love her innocent expression?

This little fella and his big brother and sister (children of the lady I talked about before), came over to hang out and he took Bree's favorite toy.

But it was okay, because she started doing THIS....it was SO funny! You can see his little smile, so we knew he was loving it, too.
