Carly and I are eating lunch and Bree is crawling around attacking stuffed animals. She crawled by us on her way to the living room to take the magazines back out of the (karate-chopped) basket...she must be so confused about why I don't understand that magazines belong all over the floor, not stacked up in a broken basket. =)
Carly: Mommy, do you like Bree?
Me: Of course I do - I love Bree, just like I love you. Why, do you like Bree?
Carly: Ehhh, not so much.
**Fifteen minutes later**
The little monster is in bed and Carly and I are playing Go Fish. Carly keeps telling me what she draws and showing me her cards, and I keep telling her that's not really how it works, that your cards are supposed to be secret. I'm looking for one last Angel Fish and she draws it.
Carly (whispering): I got a ANGEL FISH, Mommy. It's a secret but now you can ask for it.
Me: Okay....Carly, may I have an Angel Fish?
Carly: Of course you can!
Then she claps her hands and does the happy squeal (I've taught her VERY well, Texas friends never fear) when I get a set.
**Five minutes later**
You should know that Carly learned how to play tic-tac-toe with Grammy in Tennessee and she learned about blocking and lining up and the difference between winning and not winning.
Carly: (unhappy) Why is the game over?! I still have cards left!!! (As she waves them around and they go flying everywhere)
Me: Because whoever gets all their cards into sets and has no more cards in their hands wins and then the game is over.
Carly: Well...but, well...I don't like it. Next time I'm going to BLOCK you.
Then she laughed because she wasn't sure whether that was a mean thing to say and she's pretty sure it has nothing to do with Go Fish. =)
