She wasn't being silly...I can't decide if she was embarrassed or scared. She didn't know either, she just knew that the box was missing two very important parts of her costume (ie: the boat and the water) and she didn't want to "see it." It was very sad.

Now that things have settled down a little bit, our calendar is filling up again. We have a corn maze, a pumpkin patch and two Halloween parties before the actual day of Halloween, not to mention whatever fun costume-worthy events MomMom and PopPop have planned for Carly's visit. We told Carly that we'd go back to the pirate boat (the USS Kidd) so she can go talk to the pirate. I'm hoping that will help her feel more comfortable in this awesome costume. I'd hate for her to be so sad when she's looking so cute. She couldn't even say "arg."

Awww... poor little matey. Tell her that Tommy is going to be a pirate too. I'll send her photos of him as soon as I can! :) I think she looks adorable!!!
ah, so sad! the costume looks fantastic though
poor little pirate! maybe you should make her a card board boat =)
p.s. if she has a wagon you could turn that into her boat.
ooohhh - i hope that she ends up loving it by halloween!!!
I love her custome!
That is such a sweet photo. I can literally feel her embarrassment. The wagon idea sounds like a good one, you could make cardboard waves and stick them to the side.
