Day 9: Riverfest!

This whole Day of Fun thing is really helping me to un-hate New Orleans...so I guess it's working! We set out for our big adventure today and started off with some yummy foccaccia pizzas at a little cafe in Algiers Point - that's the historic, pretty part, not the scary part.
It really is the most beautiful day today, so we walked the few blocks over to Riverfest! It's pretty small as far as festivals go, but it was great! You could hear the jazz all over Algiers Point and this is the point from which you could smell some AMAZING food cooking.
They are making the same face, if you look closely...the only difference is Carly is telling us about some people she sees and Paul is telling me to put the camera AWAY. =)
We walked up the levee behind the tents to sit and listen for a while. This is our view...
This is a closeup of what was making some of those gorgeous smells. A smoker! This guy was putting all sorts of yummy-looking sauces and spices on the stuff he had going in there, and every time he'd open the door, I though I'd just fall right off the hill.

And then right next to him, this guy was cooking up something amazing, too. I don't know what was in that jar of spices, but he put it on everything, and judging from the line in front of their booth, it was working out really well. =)
Carly and Paul watching the boats.
My studly husband and, wait, there's something wrong with Carly's shoe!
Daddy, you fix it please!
So he did! Aww...so sweet!

It looks like New Orleans has a ton to offer!!! I'm glad you're starting to enjoy it ;o)
My sister, her hubby & little boy (Pepi) are there this week...do you have any "have-to" activities to suggest for them??
