Three Gazillion WAP Pics

We all headed out to the Wild Animal Park with Maria and her boys on Friday! It was pretty hot, but we had a good time!
We were given this dress at Carly's baby shower in Philadelphia and I have been waiting for more than TWO YEARS for her to be able to wear it! It's so beautiful and she loved the crocheted skirt.
Their favorite animals - "Mingones!"
We did actually see a few animals while we were there, but how many photos do you really need to see of some large contained animals and the back of the kids' heads? Answer: just this one.
The girls!
Oh wait...one more animal photo. I included it because it is yet another example of my stellar photography skills! I managed to get a shot of a pelican actually SITTING on Marina's head!!! It's amazing!
JJ (Marina's brother) was our navigator for the morning. Andy hopped out of his stroller and sat right down, trying to put his feet just like JJ's, when JJ stopped to look on the map for his favorite animal...
And we finally found them!
"The hand is too hot!"
Both Maria and I bought yearlong passes - and it was totally worth it! We didn't feel the pressure to see every single exhibit and just let the kids do what they wanted. It made for a much more relaxing day than if we were running all over the place trying to get it all in!
Andy = fearless. This is a three foot drop and later, when no one was standing right in front of him, he discovered that it is REALLY FUN to jump right off.

Carly putting the voodoo on the lion statue. She wouldn't touch it!
Marina walked the whole length of the snake!
Carly - being chased right out of the frame by a giant turtle!
This is funny - Carly spent about half an hour playing on these little cars, and in this photo, she was telling me that the monkey had a "boogey-nose." You can't see it in the picture, but there is the tiniest chip of paint missing in his nose. Carly kept trying to clean it off. =)
Then we went to the cool zone! It's just three soft animal statues with sprinklers and a handful of palm trees that are activated by motion detectors. It was over 90 degrees, so all of us SoCal residents were sweltering! The cool zone was packed, but Carly was checking it out anyway...it look like it might be fun...
In the mix, but still a little unsure...
....checking the water temperature...
Marina was NOT having it. We ended up spending about an hour at the sprinklers, and she was perfectly content to sit in the stroller - the mat gets super hot when it's not wet - and play with her shoes or sing songs to herself.
Carly, meanwhile - in like five minutes - had gotten completely wet and was having a great time! All the bigger kids took turns directing the water from the turtles mouth. The really good ones could make it shoot clear across the play area.
SHE LOVED IT! If you look closely you can see Carly's getting sprayed.
I don't know why the pictures are all messed up...anyway, this is me and baby Matt hanging out by the strollers.

Then Carly decided to join us (I have no idea why it's typing over here!) and then we finally got smart and moved over to the shady hill and Carly got a change of dry clothes...which lasted all of thirty seconds before she ran right back into the waterworks.

Then Marina passed right out. Snoring and everything - it was great. When Carly was telling us very loudly that "Meena nigh-nigh!," poor sleepy Marina just moved to the other side. And then I had to stop short before I ran over JJ and poor snoring Marina jolted forward and back without even waking up.
All in all we had a great day and we'll definitely be doing it again soon!
