USS Arizona Memorial

This is just the line to get tickets! Then we waited another three hours until it was our turn. There were lots of things to see and read...but three hours is a really long time! This is Tourist Katherine getting geared up for some sightseeing.
The guy in front of us was dressed far more appropriately than we were!
Katherine and Grandma Louise
Next door to the USS Arizona memorial is another museum with a submarine and the USS Missouri, as well as some information on all the ships that were in service in World War II. Carly was not exactly reverent...she kept walking around saying hi to everyone and laughing and being cute and then when enough people were looking.......
BAM! And then she'd fall over laughing.
All that exhibitionism must have worn her out, because she passed out right before we went in for the movie and tour.
The monument from our ferry.

This is part of the ship as seen from a viewing deck inside the memorial. It is only a few feet below the water and so sad to think that almost a thousand men are buried there.
In the lower left-hand corner you can see some oil still leaking from the ship. The movie we saw before we got on the ferry said that some people call those the black tears of the men buried on the ship and they'll only stop when all of the survivors pass away and join their shipmates.
Carly getting on the ferry back.
Chissy chissy Uncle Daniel!
