This EXACT salad, along with grilled Louisiana shrimp and fresh peaches and blueberries was what I planned to serve my loving, long-suffering husband for Father's Day, which is tomorrow. But, since the universe is working in perfect and predictable order, my car keys are locked INSIDE the car (very helpful) along with my cell phone and our land line is not working at all. So. No way to get to the farmer's market for the very last time and no way to call USAA to come rescue me. I'm not as upset as you'd think because I'm not surprised at all...and also I know I can go to the mini-market on Tuesday and possible get all the items I need. When Paul comes home from his pool validation this afternoon, I will just use the spare key and rescue all my stuff and hope that my friend who was going to meet me there will forgive me for forcing her out into this miserable heat for nothing.
Although I do hope she at least scored some yummy delicious local produce while she was sweating half to death out there. I've said it before and I'll probably bore you with this a hundred more times before I'm done, but organic food TASTES better than your run of the mill grocery store produce. That being said, my beloved organic food from California that is 2500 miles and two weeks removed from its (literal) roots has not a darn thing taste-wise on food grown thirty miles away that was still happily attached to the earth two days ago. It's just THAT good.
*Stepping down from that worn out soap box*
Anyway, I'm making the cupcakes to freeze for Carly's party next weekend and the girls are taking turns driving each other, and then me, crazy. But at least the bathrooms are clean. =)
