Our first stop of this crazy day was at Berry Sweet Orchards, an organic blueberry farm about an hour away. They also had big beds of daisies and black eyed Susans, heirloom tomatoes and some cherry tomatoes, but blueberries are their main crop. We got there a little after 8 and I don't know if it was because there was a lot of shade or because we were way out in the country, but it was actually pleasant outside, and that hasn't been true for a couple of months.
Bree took to it right away. She must have eaten her body weight in byu-byus. Not a single one actually made it into the bucket.
As we were leaving she ran off down the blueberry rows two or three times to get another couple of berries. She loves them!
Then, because I'm insane, we met some friends at ANOTHER blueberry farm closer to where our playgroup friends live. By this time it was 10am and ridiculously hot. I think the heat index was predicted to be 106 today and I believe it. We were all drenched, but the berries were great! The girls and I got another 3 pounds. Carly had a really good time hanging out with Grady and Miss Katherine going down all the numbered rows while I just followed Bree around.
...I had to follow her closely because if I looked away, she would feed this little guy (Grady's baby brother) blueberries by the handful. I didn't get photos of our other friends, but it was good to see them, even if we were all melting!
Then the girls and I went to visit Uncle Lynn! We went out and had a yummy barbecue lunch, then the girls ran around ransacking his house and pushing him out of his chair. We're lucky he's so patient =)
