What We've Been Up To

The Tuesday after I got back from my fabulous trip, we had Carly's celebration of life at school. It was really special for her. She walked around the circle holding a globe, signifying the Earth's journey around the sun while Miss Pam carried a picture of each year of her life and I told the story of what happened each year. Then her teacher read "On the Day You Were Born" by Debra Frasier. We gave her classroom our favorite book, "Zoology" by Joelle Jolivet and then because Bree was really trying to dismantle the entire classroom (anybody surprised?), we joined Carly's class on a nature walk before playing on the playground together. Bree was a big hit with the big kids. This is Caroline and Frances helping Carly push Bree on the swing.

Friends! Bree likes to swing HIGH even on the big kid swing. =)

Then we went to pick up the girls' flowergirl dresses from the tailor. They look so beautiful!

Don't know what's up with the pink box, but Bree does throw the most fabulous fits. Get it, girl!

At a birthday party Sunday. She was jamming out to the Reggae music.

Two little monkeys. This is as close as I got to getting them still together. =) It was SO NICE to have Paul there!!!

Little monkeys! They had such a great time! =)

This is sweet and sad. I think if we were to stay here for a little while, Bree and Emily would be good friends. They're about five months apart in age and they played together as much as girls this age play together.

Then yesterday, we had a showing, so Bree and I had to get out of the house. We went to McAllister's Deli b/c I needed a great big glass of tea. Bree was exploring the sounds her spoon made when she tapped it on different things. She had just discovered her clip was fun to tap on

Which of course meant that she immediately had to pull it out. =)

Which led to a monkey cheese hair treatment.

Okay, we're off! Bree finally fell asleep about ten minutes ago...which is frustrating because we have to leave to pick Carly up at school in twenty minutes! Oh no! I guess it will be an early bedtime for us!!!

Andy's teacher does the same thing for birthdays! They get to celebrate their "orbits" and so they go around the circle with a picture for each year and get the book read to them. I love that celebration, and I love that it's clearly "true" Montessori! ;-)
