Earth Day Celebration

Bree and Avery rocking out to Avery's dad's band when we finally found the stage! Of course we parked on the exact opposite side of the entire thing so we were a bit (ha) late...but the girls had a blast! Bree was having fun, even though her face is weird here, and she is the cutest little dancer. When Carly warmed up, we jumped around for a while...so fun. =)

After our street party, Bree pretty much hung out in the stroller, more or less happily (sometimes more, sometimes much much less) while Carly got to do a number of very cool things.

...such as take this bag of boards from the Habita for Humanity ReStore...

And build a birdhouse! (Mr. Jim helped a little)

...make a water filter with sand and rocks...

...learn abou the water cycle and make a bracelet...

...explore a teepee...

....pet a snake...

...and see close ups of the recycled-wear fashion show.

We watched quite a bit of the show from across the fountain before Bree decided that enough was enough and she had to eat right then. She started crying "EAT!" and pointing to her mouth. I was very sad...that lady in the gray pants wanted to give Bree some of her cheesy nachos but we went to Whole Foods instead.

Because PIZZA is just soooo much healthier. Okay, in this case, it actually is much healthier but the irony of switching out $5 nachos for 2/$5 pieces of pizza the size of my kids' heads is not lost on me. Another irony check? Coming home from the Earth Day festival with ten pounds of pamphlets, plastic bags, plastic cups and sticker backing. Just sayin'

YUM! This is actually Carly's crust, after she'd finished her own. =)
