So...
I spent a fun two hours at FedEx Office last night trying to fax our housing application to get there sometime close to midnight. I kept dialing and dialing and kept getting a busy signal, for TWO HOURS, until finally the guy behind the counter had mercy on me and offered to put it through their machine that has auto dial. He said I could call in the morning to see when it through.
Problem was, it didn't go through.
This is probably due to the fact that not only are the people in Paul's class all applying for housing today, but the people in the three OTHER schools are applying for housing today. That's about three hundred families and one fax line...
Enter Steph *cue Allelujah Chorus* who went way out of her way to hand deliver our application to a very rude lady at the housing office (what IS it with them?) on her day off. What a relief! I honestly do not know what I would have done without her. Thank you thank you thank you!!!
And okay, while I was sitting there dialing that stupid busy fax machine, in walks a lady with her teenaged son and two little kids, like Carly's age and another one a year or two older. This was at 12:30am. She was coming in to print off a school project for the older son that is due, you know, today. They had their laptop from home, but didn't have a power source for it or a USB cord. Eventually they had to go to the computer center there in the store to redo the entire project while she kept yelling at the little kids to stop acting all crazy, which they undoubtably couldn't help given that it was the middle of the night and they were eating Doritos and sharing a Coke. It made me so sad for those kids.
Anyway, we should hear back from the housing office (maybe????) this afternoon to see if they ever got our application. We'll know by June 1 at the latest if we will be on base next year or if we will be renting...renting is actually Plan C. Plan B is pitching a tent by the front gate. =)

Thank goodness for Steph! So nice to have friends you can count on. But seriously, all is not lost if you don't get housing. You can rent my house! Probably. There is someone in it at the moment but I expect her to leave in July. Anyway, it would be perfect for you guys so no need to worry I have Plan D for you :o)
oh good grief...what is that mother thinking giving these kids out that late, AND giving them soda that late...geez!!!
