In Which I am So Grateful for a Healthy Sense of Humor

A while back one of my favorite party websites had this cute little idea, and I was looking forward to an opportunity to try it out! Simple glass ornaments, filled and monogrammed, like so:

So when our playgroup started talking about a Christmas party, I suggested an ornament exchange, in part to avoid alllll the calories of cookies but also to give me a valid excuse to make the above ornaments. I was the only person who thought ornaments were a good idea, so cookies won. And that was that. I was totally prepared for the cookies, as necessitated by a No Rushing Around plan and the fact that we are leaving for Philadelphia early the morning after this party. I have all the ingredients bought (and measured and in the freezer, which might be overkilling just a bit) and cute little recipe cards made. I am READY!

...or WAS until I woke up this morning to find that another mama suggested the ornament exchange after all and now it's a great idea that everyone is excited for, especially ME because hello now I can make those ornaments. Nevermind that I had to wait for someone else to mention it...that has happened a couple of times before, but if it ends up with me getting what I wanted all along, I don't (really) mind. Okay I do a little, but not enough to dampen my excitement for getting to do my little crafty. So off to Hobby Lobby Bree and I went after dropping Carly off at school. We got all the stuff, and I put them together and painted the little letters for everyone who is or might be coming. I am READY!

....or WAS until I was waiting for the photo to load and clicked over to double check the RSVPs only to find that yet another mama suggested doing a White Elephant kind of thing and it is a great idea that everyone is excited for. I had to laugh. Of course the plan would change. However, I am having a No Rushing Around holiday, so I'm sticking with plan B instead of running out to find another ornament. Now I'm just going to wait for someone to suggest that we all make our recipe cards a uniform size, or only printer paper size, or only in Sanscrit. =)

I love the ornaments! I just made similar ornaments for our friends and family after seeing them on Kelly's Korner's blog. I know everyone at the party will enjoy them!

Ignore any future updates for the group, and I know you won't but that's my opinion. Whatever you do be sure to take the ornaments but they came out fantastic! You are so crafty, and organized. How do you do it all?
