Carly

This is what Carly chose to wear for pajamas: a Komen t-shirt from 2007 and these too-small tights from last winter. She is such a cool kid. When she was really small and I thought that I could make everything perfect all the time (WAY back, before she started having an opinion of her own), I swore I'd never let her go through the torture and embarrassment of being "one of those kids" whose obviously lazy and uncaring parents let them wear just whatever they picked out so the poor kid always looked a hot mess. I never really noticed that those messy kids were always pretty happy and proud of themselves for being so grown up.
Anyway, all that is to say that I think we're going to try out the u-pick outfit situation this year and see how it works. I did start putting up her clothes as they're washed, instead of putting them back in the closet, so she's not just wearing that one orange dress every other day, and I've found that if horribly mismatched clothes are ironed and her hair is done, she still at least sort of looks like someone is taking care of her.
We're testing this theory today...in about twenty minutes when we head to the park. I don't want to sit around in the house all day and it is too h-o-t to go later. Wish us luck! =)

My kids are those 'hot mess' kids! I have pretty much always let them pick their own clothes. I would only make them change if we were going somewhere that I felt it mattered, which was not often. LOL
Steven was the funniest, he always tried to wear the same color, like red shorts and red shirt, and you know that never looks good, the colors are never actually the same and look funny together!
