Walks with Carly are really more like Stops. We stop to look at every bug, every stick, every sign, every leaf...it takes a very long time to get anywhere, but it's much more interesting. This was our first stop, that white fence is our house...so we actually made it pretty far today.

I know, she's just so cute, right? I know. But let's draw our attention to those pants, which are the final installment of her Target treasures...AND the fishie t-shirt which is almost too short and which fit her with room to spare about two months ago. Our little bean sprout!

There were lizards in the drain - she was backing up because "Marty the Monster is scary da lizards."

Is it just me, or is the sun WAY more intense down here? Anyway, Carly saw the water tower - if you look closely you can see her looking straight up at it! - and she wanted to see it up close. Also in this photo, you can see a random boarded-up building, some classy trailers and in the distance, part of the New Orleans skyline.

Those are the speakers that blast the National Anthem twice a day. And a teeny tiny little Carly bug.

Hahahaha...you know I don't even have to point out which button to push?

That's right, baby, just hand your Mama the can. She's very excited about helping, but this photo is a little white trash, I know it. You'd sort of expect to turn around and see me walking around the base in houseshoes and a tube top and maybe some rollers in my hair, smacking gum and cursing.

And...it takes a LOT longer to get home from a Stop than it does to get where we're going. Here, Carly is taking off her shoe to check for more microscopic instep invaders.

Poor sweaty little red-faced baby. It didn't show up very well, but she was so flushed! By the time we got back to Herbie the Car (that is what she has named my CR-V), it was about 10am and 86 degrees. It's like I told Paul when Carly and I were on our way to buy her splashy pool - it makes sense in normal life for it to start getting seriously hot now (as anyone from this regio rolls their eyes at the idea that 86 is "seriously" hot), but we've been pretty much exempt from summer for the last three years - it's a hard thing to get used to. Which is why we got the splashy pool...
The base pool doesn't open for another couple of weeks and according to reports from the neighbros, it's overrun with camp kids all afternoon, so we need a way to keep our little fishie cool in the meantime. Thanks to her recent growth spurt, there was a trip to Old Navy involved with our errands and we did find a cute, cute suit. Fishies to make Mommy happy, one-piece to make Daddy happy. Photos manana.

Okay and THEN after it took a five minute temper tantrum and the loss of evey priviledge I could think of to get Carly up the stairs and into her bed, my birthday present arrived via our anorexic mail man. Hooray for perfect timing! THANKS, Michelle F!

and don't forget Jim Fey's (or is it Fay?) Love and Logic. You can go on the website and see information and the book is probably in your library. Remember the door slamming and resultant removal of the door for a while? Ya, I know....
You gave it to me for a baby gift! And ya, you do know...
I just slammed YOUR door instead because I was just as much a hardheaded punk at 12 as I am now.
*grin*
LOL, you two must have had some gooood times! The Love and Logic book sounds interesting though. Liz I LOVE "magic 1 2 3" and it really is magic with my kids. You will see it in action as soon as I load a video I just took. The other one had good reviews so I threw it in for good measure. Hope they work for you too!
Aww...Marty the monster...I miss seeing you, Carly, and Marty!
I have 123 Magic! A friend recommended it to me. I haven't read it all yet, but i use counting a lot. We have to get to 2 here ALWAYS...but it cuts down on a lot of me screaming.
