This afternon, Amanda and I took Carly to Mayfest down by the Trinity River. I can remember going there as a little kid, and there is a picture of me doing a tap dance there when I was just a tiny little thing. I was dressed as a bunny, with ears and a carrot and everything. I had a black X on my right hand to remind me to turn that way, since I'm left-handed and would always be going the wrong way and running into people. =)

How FUNNY is this photo! Carly was not a happy camper while we were waiting in line for the shuttle bus. Everyone in line thought it was hilarious that she was crying, considering what the last no-no is!

We love the self-portraits!

Okay, Mayfest is stinking expensive. But, there is a huge (and free!) kids area where you can make all kinds of crafts, see Elsie the cow, dig in some sand and build stuff. We were really excited about the music makers booth, right up until we realized that all the volunteers were gone. It was still fun for Carly to play in the glitter and we totally let her - we figured if it was that huge of a deal, someone would have cleaned up before all the volunteers took off.

The spiral paint! Carly's art sort of looks like a big eyeball, but it was so fun!

Hanging out with Elsie.

One of the big gymnastics places in Fort Worth set up this cute obstacle course with balance beams and trampolines. Carly LOVED it, and went through it about five times in a row!

The CHEESE!!! Oh my gosh - I grew up on this playground and this is the only play structure still around from a million years ago when I was a little kid. Carly didn't try and climb on it or anything; if you'll notice her mouth is wide open...she was pretending to CHOMP the cheese. She's such a funny girl!

This was her favorite sign...so we took a photo. We had just gotten her a million dollar ice cream cone with lots of giant sprinkles, so she was much more interested in that than in smiling for the camera.

See? With the glitter from the non-booth and the paint from the swirly booth. By the end of the day, with all the dust and the sunscreen and the melted ice cream...she was the world's filthiest child. I'm not even kidding, it was gross.

With her puffy red allergy eyes, too! Poor little baby.

Daddy will be so proud.

Okay, this didn't come out as effective as I wanted...this slide was HUGE. Like twenty plus feet tall...and our little daredevil could not get enough!

First, she went with Beeda. Or sort of...Carly jumped down the slide before Amanda could even sit down!

Then she went by herself! Right as I was taking this picture, well, you can see it. She ended up kind of flying into the air and landing on her face. And then she came up laughing and asked to go again!

Then, Beeda got Carly a monster. It is so cute and Carly loves it, but she seems to have inherited her parents' complete inability to pick out names quickly. This lady had a booth with the most beautiful glass window mosaics...I guess that's what you'd call it...anyway, she asked Carly what her monster's name is and Carly didn't know, so they decided together that he is Marty the monster. I told the Magical Name-Finding Lady that I'd be giving her a call in three months.

Carly dropped Marty...so she was kissing his head to make him feel better.

Then she gave him a ride on her shoulders. =)

Fun!
Looks like tons of fun! I'm glad you all are having such a great visit. Oh, and I have that same maternity tank top, although no one has seen it because I haven't been allowed out of the house since last year. :)
