There is a free ferry that runs from Algiers Point to Canal Street in downtown New Orleans. I'm not sure how I've lived here for three months and never been on it...but this won't be the last time we take the trip, for sure! The terminal on the New Orleans side is about six blocks from the Children's Museum and just a few blocks to the French Market and the French Quarter. So easy!
...BUT...here is Carly being very, very excited about finding a Thomas book in the little kids' area.
Then on to Art Splash, the coolest little room where kids can make a differently-themed project every week. This week it was music-inspired collages.
It took Carly about five minutes to explain to me that she was drawing the part of the "pitar" where the stings go across the hole in the middle. Personally, I'm thinking she must be some kind of genius to pull out that one single detail...but I might be biased. =)
Then! They have this neat kid-sized grocery store where you can pick out three things...Carly got a tomato, a salami and a loaf of bread. Daddy's Italian genes are coming through!
The volunteers help the kids to ring up their products (this was after the bread was exchanged for a Danish)...and Carly was a little confused.

Oh, no doubt that the guitar string thing is genius. So, her birthday present from Grammy is a ukulele. Don't tell her!
Okay - I don't think you are being biased...because honestly, my first thought when I read this was, "wow, I'm impressed she noticed that detail to a guitar!" Very smart little girl you got there!
I wish I knew about that boat when we used to visit how cool...
How fun! We'll leave the house when both of us don't have runny noses. Anyone know when that will be????
