Now, That's More Like It!

I say it all the time: This is a great place to visit, but it's hard to live here.
That is SO TRUE! So Carly and I decided that it was time to go back to being tourists. She, my sweet fashionista, was dressed for the part, and we headed out to the French Market first thing this morning.
We arrived at 8:30 and this was our first stop!
We had beignets at Mardi Gras, and they were good, but fresh and hot they are A-MAZ-ING.
Carly LOVED them, too! She got the powdered sugar aallll up and down her shirt!
EYES
Carly's new thing is dancing on circles - any circle. It only takes a minute of twirling around and she's good.
Greeting the wildlife...every store had stuffed alligators, or alligator heads...kind of weird. We could have taken this little guy home with us for a sweet five hundred dollars.
She says: It's The Reindeer Nose! THE RED, Mommy!
We tried for the cool shot...that's the entrance to the flea market part of the French Market in the background.
Poor baby, do you see her lip? She bit it yesterday and it still hurts.
This was super scary! A huge mirror on a rickety stool and Carly with the grabby hands. Yikes!
She had a great time with the African instruments.
Relaxing outside the Margaritaville store...
Hehehe...and at the African woodcraft store. This chair is supercool.
And the swingy chair - this one closed up on her right after this shot! But she loved it and wanted to take it home and hang it in her room.
Running girl!
There is a lot of construction going on and the generator was just too loud for Carly Fish. It doesn't show, but this shirt is the coolest Crayon-blue. Carly called it her sky shirt. =)
The flea market part is really not as cool as we hoped, but Carly was way into the beads that were hung from the sides of every booth. She got really excited about Nemo!
How COOL is this door???
It's great!
The world is Carly's stage...I've said this before. But it's an elevated surface, so she had to get up there and sing for a little bit.
Again with the circle. =)
We heard this jazz band playing and Carly went to go see what was going on.
Grammy will be SO proud - Carly saw the man with the bass and turned around and said, "Mom, that is a BIG biolin. It's a HUGE one."
Trying to climb it - little monkey.
I'm framing this in B&W for her room.
So then, since it had been three hours of walking around and dancing and singing and looking into a million different stores, we decided to stop at the Central Grocery for lunch. This is THE coolest place - you can find any shi-shi ingredients here all with labels in French or Italian. They also sell cheeses and meats...it was great.
Meat, cheese, olive salad - OH MY GOODNESS, the muffuletta - it is so good.
Carly ate fully half of it and then asked for more. If you come visit, this is a MUST. You have to eat here. It's soooo stinking good.
Oh hey! I forgot I uploaded this - this is the store! The top shelves have all different tins of olive oil.
Carly got another flower - the pink one was given to her by our Cafe Du Monde waitress, and then we got this cool red bobby one from a street vendor.

Of course it doesn't have to be a music genius statement to make Grammy proud. Oh, and you don't have to publish my comments. I'll just write them for you and then it's not so weird that your mom writes in blogs. Anyway, I envy the time you guys have together. Good job!
