Mardi Gras Half

I'm gong to apologize in advance because most of these are blurry. My camera stinks.
*
Anyway...my two walking to the starting line!
We got downtown about 6:30 this morning and Carly was talking nonstop about how "decided" she was "pecause" she got to see Daddy running.
Cutie patootie
You can't really tell....but really, I've never seen so many skinny half-naked people in my life. There were over 5,000 competitors in the full marathon, half marathon and 5K! It was crazy!
Carly playing with rocks is just a pretense for me to show you the winner of the Most Awesome Legwear award.
Stretching with Daddy - "Daddy, how you DO THAT?"
She adores him!

Hamstring stretch! Again, I'm really sorry if the terrible picture quality is making you seasick!

Lots of running legs! It took almost five minutes for all the full and half marathon folks to get through the starting gate! Do you see Paul?
(I didn't either, don't worry!)

Then we went across the street to the Covenant Coffe shop...the proceeds from the shop go to help homeless youth. AND they make a really great cup of coffee. About twenty minutes after we got there, they RAN OUT of that awesome coffee, though! Carly and I stayed and watched the 5K folks run in...she got a little bored, so she put her comb down for a nap, stories and songs and everything. She even tucked it in!
Blurry! GR!
Sort of silly face
Clapping for the first of the half marathoners coming in. She was really excited about this particular guy (his video is below) because he was going really, really fast! She was saying "Zoom, zoom MAN! SuperFAST!"
Carly's Zoom-Zoom Man. Folks, this is what we call "hauling a**." And he was seventh or eighth! This guy ran a half marathon in an HOUR AND FIFTEEN MINUTES. That is just crazy.

Did I mention alreay that I hate my camera? I do. The stupid thing took a picture before the whatever it's called was open all the way! GR again!!! When the official finish photos are up, we'll post it. Paul did SO well! We are really proud of him.
Sharing his Gatorade-juice
There was a strolling brass band - they were really good! And...this is as close as I got to a post-race pic of my badass husband. =)
Messyface Carly enjoying some snacks.
Can you tell what this is? Yeah, New Orleans might be the one place in the world where you can run a marathon and then go get yourself a beer.

How fun! Wish I was motivated enough to train again for a marathon. Oh, and for some reason beer is a common drink served at races-yuck!!

Thanks for the pictures. Looks like a good day. Some pictures and the video were not on my version of your blog.

Paul rocks! Also, are those spandex pants a Louisiana staple? If so, I'm moving!

I almost missed him going through the gate. I looked for someone with a head about 8 ft higher than everyone else's. I think I saw him!
