Earlier today, Carly and I were playing in her playroom and she pulled out a deck of phonics cards. I decided to go through a couple of them - it can't hurt, right? Okay, so she handed me the "U" card and I said "You says uhhhh."
Carly: uhhhh
Then I read off some of the list of words underneath, emphasizing the "uhhh."
Me: Cuhhhhhhht
Carly: Cuhhhhhht
And so on and so forth, until we got to "shut". I said it a couple of times and she didn't respond, so I clarified the process.
Me: Carly, look at Mommy. Say shu-uhhhhht.
Carly: (with a hand on either side of my face) Noooooooooo.
