Bookends of Our Runaway Roadtrip

The girls were so happy to see eachother and even more happy when we gave them dried mangoes and turned on the DVD player!
Scary sun from our front porch. In real life the sun was bright red.
Kalyn with the scary yellow sky!
Passing Camp Pendleton, the smoke cloud is from the Basilone/Ammo fire near where Paul's offices are.
Nearing Irvine, the smoke broke just like that. It was amazing.
Okay, this is out of order. But look closely at the sign..."Basilone Rd."
Say it with me: Bass-ill-OWN.
NOT Basil One. =)
Most of the pictures are in the following posts - I get really lazy about taking pictures when Kalyn's around. But I've included just a few, like this one of the girls playing in the Beckmann's beautiful backyard in clear-aired Solvang.
And this one of Carly having breakfast on Thursday morning at the cute Danish bakery across from our hotel. Every day they gave us a coupon for two pastries and coffee, so I cashed them in all at once and brought a huge box of buttery goodness to Kalyn's parents. Yum!
This is what I meant by bookends: this passing Camp Pendleton on Friday around 12-ish. You can see the hills are burned - it was pretty scary.
And then! Look!
From Nevada!
I just missed the guys waving back. It was so nice to see them coming to help from so far away!
Okay, now I'm warning you - there are a million photos, so you might want to get a snack or something to drink because you're going to be here for a while. =)

Hahahaha... all my life here in C-Bad, I have pronounced it "Bay-zil-one" tee-hee-hee... it wasn't until Tuesday evening that I was officially corrected. I still, will always say it my way. I can't break a bad habit over night yall.
