We had plans to do something, but we didn't know what. The WAP was out of the question, because it was in the high 80's where we live by eight in the morning (Texans, I don't want to hear it.) and it's like an inferno out in Escondido....so, since Maria had never been to La Jolla and the aquarium that I love so much is wonderfully air conditioned, we decided to head down.

The big kids - and Carly being funny, hiding behind her penguin - all buckled up and ready to go!
If I were smarter, I would have noticed the very obvious buckling of the straps and that they kept falling down...which might have reminded me that they're supposed to cross in the back...but even with my complete lack of observation, this dress from Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop is still so pretty!
Okay, how can you not love that face? And those great big blue eyes!!! We love The Baby Matt.
With mama Maria, The Baby Matt is all gummy grins.
Carly is starting to color actual objects on the page instead of all over..the red and green blotches are where the stars are. She was so focused and intent!
Juice. Yum.
Carly took two bites of her pizza and was done, but Andy ate all of his AND all of hers! And without making a bit of a mess! We were so proud of him.
Carly's trying to point to all three whale statues at once!
Buddies
Pretty
Andy and Carly were obsessed with the resting tide pool. They kept pulling on the nets and calling to the fish (beesh, in Andy-speak) to wake up.
Oh, now that's better.
It's a little embarrassing that Maria, the mother of two boys, was the one to suggest the crossing of the straps. Honestly.

We've already discussed how enthusiastic Carly is with her affections and Mommy is not exempt from the tackle-hug. We really almost fell over.
Sharing the stah-beesh
On the other side of the little plastic sea creatures exhibit is the tide pool that actually has water going back and forth - the noise that had Carly so concerned is whatever it is that they use to make the water rock. I love the look on her face.
Do you think she liked the splashing water?
