Six Kinds Of Crazy

...is what we must have been. But we did it anyway, so here's the photographic evidence!
*
Our first stop on our whirlwind adventure was Old Town. It is so beautiful there! We fully intent to go back, without children, and take a walking historical tour and have some margaritas...well, I'll have margaritas...Amanda and margaritas are NOT friends. But that's another story.
After the girls posed in front of the sign, we checked out the Mason Street School, which was built in 1865, and was the first public school in San Diego County.
Carly wasn't really a fan of the desk, but she looked really cute!
She was also not a fan of the bench...she was asking to get down and look at those arms? I did manage to get a really awful picture of all three kids all at the same time! That's skill!
They're more like sisters...most of the time they're fighting like two little alley cats and then every now and then, it's this. So sweet.
It is so beautiful there!
Carly LOVES a good fountain...and with spitting dogs? It just doesn't get better.
JJ = not a big fan of Old Town.
Walking to the aquarium - stop #2 on Our Great Big Crazy Adventure.
Carly is so funny!

"Can I help you?"
JJ is a natural I tell you. I tried to get a shot of this goldfish for about five minutes and he was "laughing" in the background the whole time.
Then, he decided to teach the girls a game. "Okay, YOU sit there and YOU sit there. Okay now stand up."
And then he bounced the ball against the stairs and they'd all run after it...but where did it go???
OH,NO!
Amanda to the rescue! Go, Go Gadget Arms!!!
So then everything was fine until they all got eaten by a giant shark. Carly is so funny in this photo because she's looking at JJ like "what ARE you doing?" while Marina is just smiling sweetly.
When we got inside, Carly made friends with this nice aquarium lady and got a private lesson in sea stars.
JJ touched the sea cucumber! He said it was soft but really weird. Then he almost got pinched by a crab, but thankfully got out of the way just in time!
Then Marina touched the sea star...you'd never think our sensitive Marina would be that into getting friendly with underwater life forms, but she totally digs it. She even went and said goodbye to that particular sea star when we left.
Then Carly got brave and touched the star, too. Last time, she was NOT interested, but she's two now, so she figured since she's all grown up and everything, she could totally do the big girl stuff.
Then, at stop #3, Marina passed right out and slept for a good hour and half or so. She can sleep anywhere.
HEY LOOK!
Everyone was telling the TRUTH! The seals really do exist!!!
And they smell really, really bad. I stuck around long enough to get this photo and I had to leave. You'd think creatures that get washed off so often wouldn't smell quite so much like rotting carcasses, but they do. It's awful.
These two birds hung out together the whole time we were at the beach across from the seals. I stayed up top to watch Marina and make sure the stroller didn't go rolling down the hill while Amanda took JJ and Carly to frolic in the ocean.
They had a great time, too! Carly and JJ were completely soaked from the wave-jumping and excavating they did.
JJ kept running up and down the stairs bringing me pieces of sea glass like this one. Guess who was having fun with the macro focus again?
Then when we got back to our car which was approximately sixteen miles from the beach and all uphill, we found my poor little car sandwiched between La Jolla's main source of municipal income: traffic police. Fortunately for us, the seals and beach only held ninety minutes of interest for our little ones, so we were safe and escaped without being ticketed. This time!
Okay and as if all of that fun weren't enough, we stopped at Golden Spoon on the way home for some hah feem. Carly had pink with sprinkles and she was ALL ABOUT IT.
What a mess!
A police officer was having his dinner in the Boston Market right next door and as he was leaving, Carly told him that she was a mess. But she's such a cute mess.
