Ball Photos

The ball was last night - the last time we went to one of these, I was 10 weeks pregnant and we knew exactly two other people in the room. It was so much different now that Paul is a senior lieutenant and actually has friends in the battery! I guess it helped that I wasn't constantly nauseated and exhausted, too!

We stayed at Pala last night while Carly had a sleepover with her friend Molly. This is the first time we've gotten away (except for post-deployment leave, but Paul said that doesn't count because Carly was with family) since we became parents. Paul upgraded us to a suite with a gorgeous mountain view as a surprise! It was sooo nice!

Paul, Colin and Ben! Oh, excuse me, Paul, CAPTAIN Colin and Ben. Colin is separating from the Marine Corps and moving back to Philadelphia next Wednesday against severe remonstrations from one Paul D. Fischer.
I was getting really bored (did anyone know that Paul doesn't dance in his blues, because that's news to me, hello, Joe and Julie's wedding!), so I broke out the camera...the important thing to note in these next three photos is not Paul scarfing a piece of cheesecake, but Colin's facial expression.

Funny - Colin is still making that crazy pirate face with the one eye and Paul is telling me very calmly that if I don't put down the camera, he's going to throw it in the pool outside. I've heard something like this before...
This is a sneaky picture of Rich and Ben looking a little possessed.

I was really excited to see that Rich is married, seeing as how I was starting to feel like I am the only lieutenant's wife in the whole world - or at least the whole battalion. Rich's wife wasn't able to make it to the ball and he's not in Paul's battery anyway, but it did give me hope that at one point in the future I might have someone to talk to while Paul is off cutting in line at the bar!!
