Our Camping Adventure!

We went camping for the weekend in the San Bernardino Mountains. Our particular campground was at about 6500 feet...about an hour up the mountain on these mercilessly twisted and narrow roads. But once we got there, it was so pretty and peaceful!
This is our reservation...I can hear my photographer friend in the background telling me to move the camera a couple of inches so I don't get the huge trash bin in the photo!

Our beautiful campsite ~ it smelled SO good...pine needles and fresh air!
This is our little camp after it was all set up. Paul got the tent up in record time AND he's become a master fire-maker...not too bad for a city boy!
Carly on our first morning! It didn't get very cold, but the mornings were still in the 50's and with as high as we were, it was a little chilly. She liked her cozy overalls, too!
Silly girl goofing around right before bed...I don't know where she learned this but it was hilarious!
...another silly pose!
Idyllwild, CA is the closest town to our campsite...we came in on Sunday to see the cute little shops and hang out for the day. Paul and Carly decided to pose by the ranger station for a photo.
And then it started raining and hailing! Carly was kind of mesmerized because she hasn't seen rain since we first moved here in March.
Talking with Mommy while we were waiting for the rain to go away. Carly was sitting in her very first booster seat and she did a great job!
Carly and Daddy watching the sunset on our last night.

We had such a good time camping! But we did learn a few things:
1) Few things are as beautiful as a mountain sunrise
2) If you go camping with a young toddler, you will know that from experience!
3) It takes three bottles of water to wash your hair or bathe a baby.
4) Hamburgers are SO much better when you cook them over a fire you built yourself.
5) There is no such thing as a "clean" vault toilet.
6) Liz Fischer is much less likely to barf on windy roads when she's driving - however, you are much more likely to run off the side of a mountain or right into another car.
7) Bees eat peanut butter.
8) Crying babies make your childless neighbors really cranky...
9)....but a really big bottle of Yellow Tail makes them happy again.
10) We don't need much more than a tent to have a fun time!
