The Great Garden Project, Episode 3

Today's episodes finds us installing the landscape timbers. The actual installation is much more intimidating than it is difficult, although dirt dug out by hand is bumpy. Expect lots of backfilling beneath and behind the timbers, which will repay you with many splinters of varying size and degrees of painfulness.
Then, in case you get bored, this step usually involves a fun game that is a lot like "Where's Waldo." In the garden-building world, we call this game "What's Wonky?"
This right here is an indicator that the fun new game is about to begin. In order to win the game, you have to figure out which of three other corners isn't quite right and adjust it. It's best if the corner in question isn't exactly opposite this one, which would involve moving all of the "planted" timbers and replacing the anchoring dirt. =)
Then, power tools! Yay!
These are the giant nails and terrifying hammer I keep talking about. Don't worry if the top timber comes up as you install the nails...it will go down, eventually. After about ten minutes.
(Carly says hi)
Well...maybe your aim will be better than mine and it won't take ten minutes per nail.
3/4 of the way done...Aaaaand: cue crying baby.

I have to say, I just LOVE the fact that you get out there and make it happen...a lot of women refuse to get dirty, pick up a power tool or even hammer a nail. Gosh, I've even known some women who refuse to take the trash out. LOL. I can't wait to see the final results!! Way to go!
